Laporta: "The 2-6 at Madrid was one of my greatest pleasures"
The candidate for the Barcelona presidency spoke to Catalunya Radio. On Pogba: "He would be one of the best signings...I have a good relationship with his agent."
Joan Laporta spoke to Catalunya Radio today to talk about the forthcoming Barcelona presidential elections, his former term as president and signings amongst other things.
His last term: “I have learned a lot from the errors that were made but I see things now with more energy. I feel like I was part of the treble that has just been won because we laid the foundations for this sporting project.”
Current policy: “They are Qatar, we are Unicef. Money is not everything. The contract with Qatar seems like the formula of Coca Cola. We have several options, not just one. Nobody believes this story of Qatar, we want to promote the model of La Masia.
Signings: “We are looking at the market, I have been informed about all the stars of football. Abidal will decide. If I have any players secured, I’ll say. I’ll work with Abidal and everyone will talk with Johan, who is the father. If we sign a player it will be a decision from Abidal and me.”
The support of Guardiola: “I was surprised that Pep gave me his support. It thrilled me, I did not expect that. I decided on Guardiola, and not Mourinho, because of Guardiola’s football philosophy.”
His memories from Barcelona: “The 2-6 victory over Madrid was one of the greatest pleasures of my life.”
Pogba: “Pogba would be one of the best additions. Everyone thinks he fits the system. It makes you really excited to think he could come to Barça. I have a very good relationship with Mino Raiola, his agent.”
Prediction for the elections: “In 2003, and from the first moment, I had the conviction to win. Now I see the possibilities.”
