Tearful Vidal says sorry
“I feel ashamed of myself, I’ve let everybody down”, the Chile star says after being involved in a car crash under the effects of alcohol.
Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal explained himself with a brief apology in a press conference after crashing his car under the effects of alcohol last night.
Visibly upset, the player avoided answering questions from the press and thanked team mates and coaching staff for their support.
Vidal began, “It’s very difficult for me to talk. I feel ashamed about what happened. I can only ask for forgiveness. I am grateful for the support I have received; they have given me another chance for a reason. I am really sorry, I’ve let everyone down. Now I promise to give my best so that Chile can end as champions. I hope that people will forgive me for my involvement in the accident.
“I want to say sorry to my team mates, coaching staff and the whole country", he continued. “I would like to explain what happened. Last night, I went to the casino. I had two drinks. I had an accident which everyone knows about; I put my wife’s life at risk and that of a lot of other people. I am sorry”.
