COPA AMÉRICA | BRAZIL | DANI ALVES
Life is sweet for Dani Alves
The right-back is happy with his contract extension with Barça and having held down a regular place in the Brazil side.
Everything has turned out rosy for Dani Alves. The difficult contract negotiations with Barça were resolved amicably and the right-back has gone from being rebuffed by Brazil to locking down a regular place in the side during the Copa América.
After Brazil’s victory over Peru, Alves admitted that it’s been a great year and life is good. "I am just enjoying the moment. Things have turned out well for me during the past few weeks. I’ve been through a lot of things and I hope to learn from them", he said.
The defender prefers to steer clear of any conflicts with Brazil coach Dunga, with whom he has had run-ins in the past. "I only need continuity to show my level. He gave me the opportunity to be here. Everything is going well", he continued.
Alves also relived the move in which he was involved in that led to Brazil’s opener, by Neymar. "We know each other, that’s true but playing alongside a great player like him makes everything much easier; he is one of our leaders".
But the player prefers to remain cautious about Brazil’s chances at the Copa América, as insists the team should take one step at a time. "Right now, we are only thinking about Colombia, other battles will lie further ahead", the Barcelona full-back ended.
