Manchester United sound out the ‘BBC’ and Raphael Varane
United paid Real Madrid 70 million euro last summer for Ángel Di María’s services and once again are looking at potential signings at the Bernabéu.
Manchester United are looking to rebuild after finishing fourth in the Premier League, behind, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal. According to information that AS has secured, United officials have requested contractual details of a number of current Real Madrid players including Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano, along with French defender, Raphael Varane.
The answer from the Bernabéu has been a resounding negative on all four cases. Both the Welsh player and Cristiano have buy-out clauses of 1.000 million euro. The posture with Benzema is different and it has been no secret that the club is disappointed with the latter part of his 2014/15 season with the French striker just finishing in ninth place in the league scoring table. Benzema, did however extend his contract through to 2019 with the club and the intention is to retain the player unless new coach, Rafa Benítez categorically states otherwise.
Raphael Varane’s obsession is to always be in the starting line-up. He had an indifferent season for Madrid and it’s been suggested that he listens to offers despite having a Real Madrid contract that takes him through to 2020. United are aware of this situation and have made inquiries about the player. Despite last summer’s, Di María move to Manchester not working out as anticipated after ‘Red Devils’ paid Madrid a fee of 70 million euro for his services, the Premier League club have 200 million euro set aside for new signings this summer and they see the Bernabéu as a potential source of new players.
