Benítez at Valdebebas: "I'm looking forward to the challenge"
The Spanish coach left his hotel in Naples on Monday morning and arrived in Madrid at 1230. He made his way to Madrid's training center at Valdebebas.
Rafael Benítez is already in Madrid. First thing on Monday morning, the next Real Madrid coach left the Marina di Castelo hotel (next to Napoli’s training facilities) which has been his home for the past two years, and set sail for the Spanish capital.
Speaking to AS, he said: “I am ready, I can't wait to be there and am looking forward to the challenge".
Benítez arrived in Madrid Barajas airport at 12.30pm (CET). Upon arrival the former Liverpool manager was taken to the Real Madrid Valdebebas training complex to finalize his new contract before the announcement of his position as club coach ahead of his official presentation, which will take place on Wednesday at 1300 (CET).
Benítez, was accompanied by his colleagues Juan Francisco Sánchez, Xavi Valero, Paco de Miguel and Antonio Gómez, and traveled to Madrid in a private plane which was sent by the Spanish club.
The delegation was met in the airport by a numerous amount of media representatives and Benitez declined to make any declarations.
