Sánchez Pizjuán hit with partial closure for four games
Sevilla's home ground will have a section closed for four games. The section is where the 'Biris Norte' ultras gather. Seville will appeal the decision.
Sevilla have confirmed through their official website that part of the ‘Gol Norte’ stand at the Sánchez Pizjuán, where the ‘Biris Norte’ ultras group are located, will be closed for four matches. The Competition Committee of the league informed the Andalusian club of the ruling last Friday. The partial closure comes after a complaint made by the Spanish Football League due to offensive chants from that area of the stadium in the match against Athletic Bilbao on matchday 29.
Sevilla said through their official website: “the investigation proposed a fine of 6,001 euros for the songs but the Competition Committee, in a resolution of unusual severity, increased the penalty to include the partial closure of the stadium in an unprecedented decision. The only precedent comes through previous sanctions against Sevilla Football Club, a favourite target when it comes to punishments to make examples of clubs.” The club says it will present an appeal to the Appeals Committee in the coming days.
The Federation, in addition, has also called on Sevilla to refrain from relocating those fans that are usually located in that section of the stadium and that in that section the club should display messages of fair play while it is closed.
