Eleven Barça players pass anti-doping controls
Montoya, Busquets, Pedro, Iniesta, Luis Suárez, Mascherano, Bartra, Alves, Vermaelen and Mathieu were all tested.
The UEFA ‘vampires’ dropped in on Barcelona training this morning, to carry out testing on 11 players who are expected to be playing in the final of the Copa del Rey on 30 May and the final of the Champions League, on 6 June.
Montoya, Busquets, Pedro, Iniesta, Luis Suárez, Mascherano, Bartra, Alves, Vermaelen and Mathieu were chosen at random and had to give samples of all the bodily fluids required by the doping testers.
This time Leo Messi avoided the tests; he had previously announced he was upset when before December’s game against PSG out of the five players selected to be tested he was the only one who had to give multiple samples. "Doping control. Of the five chosen, I was the only one who had to give urine and blood samples... bit strange isn't it?" he mused on Instagram.
