Real Madrid will not exercise purchase option on Reus
According to Onda Cero, the German will not come to Madrid this summer. Reus recently renewed his contract at Dortmund until 2019.
As reported by Onda Cero on its programme Al Primer Toque, Real Madrid will not exercise their purchase option (that the club have had since last year) to sign Marco Reus, Borussia Dortmund’s German forward. The reason, according to such information, is that despite having interest in strengthening their attack, Madrid believe that with players such as Cristiano, Benzema, Bale and James within their ranks, their attack is consolidated for the future project and that the arrival of another player could hinder more than help.
Reus, who has suffered three major ankle injuries since 2014 (he missed the World Cup in Brazil due to a fracture of his left ankle) recently renewed his contract with Dortmund until June 2019. Madrid’s intention is to enlist his services further down the line, but now the word will belong to Rafa Benítez, whose signing will be made official next week.
