Rayo Vallecano confirmed this evening that Paco Jémez will remain on as club coach for another season, extending his total time at Rayo to four years. Jémez will continue to be accompanied by his number two, Jesús Muñoz and Julio Muñoz his fitness coach.
Today’s announcement brings to an arduous process of negotiation which was conducted personally by Rayo president, Raúl Martín Presa and Daniel Muñoz, Jemez’s agent. The agreement came about on the day that both sides had declared was to be the deadline for an agreement as the club play their last 2014/15 La Liga game tomorrow.
The initial proposal was for Jémez to sign a two year deal, but the stumbling block surrounded a sub-clause that the coach was anxious to add in the case that the club were relegated and this became the obstacle that held back the process. In the end both parties agreed to renew the contract for Jemez’s services for one more season which will see the Canary Islander on the Rayo bench until June 30th 2016.
