CHAMPIONS LEAGUE | JUVENTUS
Juventus have 180 million fans world-wide
Juve is by far, the most popular club in Italy, curiously, 80% of fans at the Juventus stadium on a weekly basis are not from Turin.
There is something special that makes Juventus, after Madrid, Barcelona and United, one of the most popular teams in the world. It’s not due to their haul of European Cups, with just two (84/85 and 95/96), it has possibly more to do with the aura that surrounds the club and the legendary players that have worn the famous black and white striped shirt over the history of the Turin based club. Balón d’ Or winners such as. Sívori (1961), Rossi (1982), Platini (1983, 84 y 85), Baggio (1993), Zidane (1998), Nedved (2003) and Cannavaro (2006) have all played for the ‘old lady’ as the club is affectionately known in Italy. Other illustrious names in European football have played for the now 31 Scudetto winners… Buffon, Boniek, Del Piero, Laudrup, Boniperti.
Juventus is the club with most supporters in Italy and with a reported 180 million fans globally (via the latest DEMOS study). It’s been commented that on a typical match-day at Juventus Stadium, approximately 80% of the home fans are not from the city of Turin, the bulk of the locals preferring Torino but are supporters from other parts of Italy.
