English referee, Martin Atkinson to oversee Juve-Real Madrid
The Bradford born official has officiated in 6 Champions League game this season. He oversaw wins for Juve and Madrid against Olympiakos and Schalke respectively.
Martin Atkinson has been selected by UEFA to officiate the first leg of the Champions League semi final between Juventus and Real Madrid. The game will take place at the Juventus Stadium (Turin) next Tuesday.
UEFA made the official announcement on their website earlier today. The 41 year old referee has already been involved in matches with both teams during the current edition of the competition. He oversaw Juventus’ home win against Greek side, Olympiakos (3-2) and Real Madrid’s away win (0-2) when the faced Schalke 04 in Germany.
Martin Atkinson, will be assisted by Michael Mullarkey and Stephen Child, was also the match official in Bayern’s recent comeback at the Allianz Arena when Pep Guardiola’s saw off FC Porto 6-1 to advance to the semi final of the Champions League.
