Club World Cup returns to Japan in 2015 and 2016
FIFA General Secretary Jérôme Valcke confirmed on Thursday that the next two editions of the tournament will take place in Japan.
The next two editions of the FIFA Club World Cup will be held in Japan, the host country for the tournament between 2005-2008 and in 2012-13, the organizers confirmed today.
FIFA General Secretary Jérôme Valcke hailed “the extensive experience” which the Japanese Football Federation (FJF) boast in the organization of football tournaments, and announced that the country will return to stage the Club World Cup in 2015 (between 10 and 20 December) and again in 2016. “Japan has an impeccable history of hosting FIFA competitions, amongst which, six pervious editions of the Club World Cup; we are convinced that once again, it will be an excellent stage for this annual contest”, Valcke said.
Kuniya Daini, President of the FJF, said that Japan returning to host the competition was “a very valuable opportunity for players and fans to bear witness to the current trends in world football. It’s not just a competition which offers emotional and entertaining football but also allows us to learn a little more about the cultures and national leagues of all of the countries who take part”.
