LA LIGA | CELTA-REAL MADRID
Jonny: "Real Madrid are going to hurt if we have the ball"
"We'll have to play with more concentration than ever, with an eagerness to win and 200 per cent because, when you make an error, Real Madrid will hit you on the counter," said the Celta man.
Celta Vigo player Jonny Castro says Real Madrid “are going to hurt” if the Galicians get hold of possession during Sunday’s Liga match at Balaídos (21:00 CET).
“We’ll have to play with more concentration than ever, with an eagerness to win and 200 per cent because, when you make an error, Real Madrid will hit you on the counter. If we have the ball, we can hurt them...we are going to go after them” he said at a press conference on Thursday.
“We have a dream of reaching the European places and hopefully we can have a good match to please our fans. We have six games and we will fight to the death. Baláidos is a fortress, we have enjoyed some great games at home. We know that if there are chances we can get points at Balaídos,” added the defender.
Jonny made mention of the notable absences in Madrid’s squad through injury. “You always want to play against the best, but the player who comes in will do just as well or even better. All of their players are of a high level. They carry a heavy burden of many matches, especially high-intensity matches like against Atlético yesterday,” he said.
“They are going to come and give everything”
“They are going to come and give everything because they are playing for the league and they are only two points behind Barça. We know that Real Madrid come to Vigo with absences but they have a strong bench. We hope to play toe-to-toe from the beginning,” Jonny said.
“I think we’ll be looked at with respect because of what we are doing now; at home we beat Atlético, we drew against Valencia and we made things difficult for Barça. We’re hoping for a great Madrid, a great Celta and a great game,” the Celta man added.
