REAL MADRID 9 - GRANADA 1
Ronaldo hits five to overtake Pahiño on all-time list
The Portuguese has now scored 213 in La Liga, six fewer than Sporting and Barça legend Quini.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s five-goal haul against Granada took the Portuguese to 213 Liga goals and past one of Spanish football’s most lethal striker, Pahiño. Ronaldo on Sunday leapfrogged the Galician goal machine into eighth in the all-time list of top scorers, requiring just six seasons in La Liga to reach his current total.
The number seven scored a hat-trick in eight first-half minutes, the quickest treble chalked up by a non-Spaniard in the history of the Spanish league. It was also the fastest hat-trick by a Real Madrid player since 1992, when Fernando Hierro hit three past Espanyol in six minutes. Ronaldo fourth took him level with Alfredo di Stéfano, who also scored four on four occasions during his Real career.
Ronaldo’s next target in the all-time list is Quini, who bagged 219 in the top flight for Sporting and Barcelona. Leo Messi still leads the chart with 275 goals in 305 league appearances for Barcelona.
