CÓRDOBA 0 - ATLÉTICO 2
Simeone: "We're going to need everyone"
"It doesn't matter if they play 10, 20 or 70 minutes," says Atlético manager of the Liga run-in after Córdoba win.
Atético Madrid manager Diego Simeone expressed his satisfaction with his side's return to winning ways on the road and revealed that "a large part of the game was knowing that we had to come out strong because we knew that they might make mistakes bringing the ball out of defence."
Simeone said in his post-match press conference that his side "went out with what they had to do firmly in their minds and they were able to finish the game off in 20 minutes. Then we found a way to score with a set-piece, and that made it easier to control the match."
Of Saúl Ñíguez, who made a goal scoring return to the team after a month and a half on the sidelines, Simeone noted: "He gets into good positions in the area, he has goals in him and he's improving all the time. He has a lot to give."
Looking ahead to the run-in, Simeone said the whole squad would have its part to play: "We're going to need everybody. It doesn't matter if they play 10, 20 or 70 minutes, when there are a lot of games to play competition increases within the squad."
