COPA DEL REY FINAL | PIQUÉ
"I don't understand why the Bernabéu isn't being used"
Barcelona defender says he would happy for Real to play final at Camp Nou if it was the other way around.
The debate over the Copa del Rey final venue has been simmering over the past few days despite the Camp Nou being chosen to host the clash between Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao. Gerard Piqué has weighed in with his own opinion. The Barça and Spain defender said he would have liked to play the final in the Bernabéu and that he wouldn't be bothered if Real Madrid featured in a cup final at Camp Nou.
"I would have liked to play the final in the Santiago Bernabéu because it's a neutral stadium. The truth is that I can't quite understand why they wouldn't let the stadium be used; if it was the other way around I'd be delighted if they played it in Camp Nou," Piqué said.
On the possibility of the national anthem being booed in Camp Nou the defender opined: "The anthem and the boos of some fans in previous cup finals were also an important point. You can't control 90,000 football fans and it's right that everybody should have their own opinion, but as long its made from a respectful point of view."
