REAL MADRID | GARETH BALE
Some 68.3% of fans want Bale out of the starting eleven
The Welshman was the Real Madrid player who came out of the Clásico with most damage.
Gareth Bale is the Real Madrid player who comes out of the Clásico with the most damage. Madrid fans were disappointed with the performance of the Welshman and 68.3 per cent of them want him out of the starting line-up according to a survey of 8,532 supporters on AS.com, answering ‘Would you keep Bale in Madrid’s starting line-up?’.
The British forward lived highs and lows at the Camp Nou. In the first-half he played well and had a goal disallowed when Cristiano was offside in the build-up. The second half was a different matter, however, as he became absent and went completely unnoticed. The statistics say it all and explain the bad feelings towards the Madrid No.11. In the second half he made only seven passes, of which only two arrived in the last half-hour when Madrid had to overcome going 2-1 down to Barça. Lucas Silva, who came on in the 87th minute, had time to produce four passes…
Overall, Bale had the worst pass accuracy amongst all of the players who featured in the Clásico, with only 58.6 per cent of his passes finding their intended target. In other words, almost every other pass went astray. This percentage dropped even further when in the Barça half, with the Welshman’s success rate being 47.6 per cent. To this we can add lost balls, 17 in total, second only to Benzema.
He did not step foot in the area from the 46th minute to the final whistle…
The statistics from the Clásico show that Bale did not even step into the Barça area in the second half. A disappointing performance, especially in contrast to the first 45 minutes, where he enjoyed five plays in the Barça penalty box.
