CHAMPIONS LEAGUE | BAYER LEVERKUSEN - ATLÉTICO
Ansaldi makes timely return for Leverkusen trip
The Argentine full-back, who has been plagued by injury problems since the end of November, enters the squad.
Cristian Ansaldi has been included in Diego Simeone’s 22-man squad list for Wednesday’s Champions League meeting with Bayer Leverkusen. The left-back has not played a single game for Atlético since the end of November as he has struggled to overcome various fitness problems. Ansaldi was left out of the squad list for the weekend game against Almería for technical reasons.
Arda Turan and José María Giménez have also been included despite both missing Monday’s session – the Turkish midfielder laid low with bruising, Giménez, with a cold. Simeone has also called two players from the reserves: defender, Lucas Hernández and third choice keeper David Gil.
The full squad reads: Moyà, Oblak, David Gil; Godín, Siqueira, Gámez, Ansaldi, Juanfran, Miranda, Giménez and Lucas; Mario, Tiago, Raúl García, Arda, Gabi, Saúl and Cani; Griezmann, Mandzukic, Raúl Jiménez and Fernando Torres.
