ALL STAR 2015 | GASOL VS GASOL
Pau: “The embrace & jump-ball, memories that will live forever"
"We, Navarro, Garbajosa, Carlos Jiménez and the rest ... we call time. It’s the moment to hand the baton over to the next generation of young players", added Marc after the game.
Pau and Marc Gasol both agreed that their embrace at the presentation and their jump-ball were their highlights of the NBA All Star Game which was played in New York city last night and saw the West team beat the East team 163-158. Both Marc and Pau used the Word “symbol” to define the importance of their jump-off at the star of the game. “The jump-ball is very symbolic, it has been an honour and I hope that’s the lasting image for the fans. But the pre-match hug was more emotive and was the moment that we were closest during a game and event that was simply wonderful”, observed Pau.
“I’ll never forget the embrace and jump-ball for the rest of my life. We congratulated each other, it was a very emotionally charged occasion and each play during the game was great. What we achieved just shows people what you can do if you set yourself a challenge. We, Juan Carlos Navarro, Garbajosa, Carlos Jiménez and the rest ... call time. We hand the baton over to the next generation of young talented players coming through”, admitted Marc Gasol who was full of praise for Russell Westbrook’s performance. “Westbrook is a top player. He was excellent”. At the end Pau Gasol joked: “I won the jump, but I’d have preferred to have won the game of course”.
