COPA DEL REY | BARCELONA 3-1 VILLARREAL
Luis Enrique: "The penalty taker is Messi, I assume they spoke"
"Leo has always been our penalty taker and Neymar second. I assume they spoke and I had full confidence," said the Barça coach.
Luis Enrique said he was very satisfied with the performance of his team after Barcelona strung together their tenth straight win after the defeat at Anoeta.
Analysis: “The game had a lot of characteristics from what we saw in the league match. We played a complete game. We’ve seen a Villarreal much more defensive than in La Liga, searching for a positive result. They have played with ten guys on the edge of the area. We tried to create danger for them, down the wings and from outside of the box. And pressed well to avoid the counter-attack. I think we’ve played a good game against opponents who sat much deeper and the result is a good one for us. The fact we missed a penalty gives the feeling that it could have been better but I think it is a good resul. We will go to El Madrigal to attack and win the game.”
On the penalty: “We make a list of penalty takers but they then decide. Leo has always been our penalty taker and Neymar second. I assume they spoke and I had full confidence.”
The fans: “I’m happy with those who came to support the team, I thank them very much. The schedule does not help things much.”
Piqué: “The contribution of Piqué is very good. He is a vital player and I did not know that he has now scored five goals. On a defensive level, he is one of the best players at this level.”
Good form: “We have ben in good form throughout the season but we can improve in all aspects of the game.”
Mascherano as the new Puyol: “In his character and personality, yes he might be like him. It is very difficult for me as coach leaving Busquets out. He is almost the perfect player. Mascherano was in there because we wanted to have more speed to avoid the counter-attack. So Sergio was rested.”
Intensity: “There is no doubt my team can have this intensity until June. I see it as feasible because we have rotations.”
Luis Suárez and his relationship with Messi: “Good players have easy relationships and there are also personal relationships – that helps.”
