ATLÉTICO DE MADRID | ÁNGEL CORREA
Rosario Central look to sign Correa on loan until June
“It is a complex possibility, where the last word belongs to Atlético Madrid,” said the Argentine club’s general secretary.
Rosario Central are looking to sign Atlético Madrid forward Ángel Correa on loan until June. The Argentine team have travelled to the Uruguayan capital Montevideo, where the footballer is taking part in the South American Youth Football Championship, to see if he would be interested in the option. However, Rosario Central are cautious.
“It’s true, an assignment was carried out in this regard, but we must be cautious because it is a complex possibility, where the last word belongs to Atlético Madrid,” Rodolfo Di Polina, Rosario Central’s secretary general, told Argentine newspaper Ovación.
Fabio Garcia, one of Rosario’s executives, travelled to Montevideo to meet with Correa’s representative Agustín Jiménez and explained his side’s interest in the player. Right now, the last word belongs to Atlético. Simeone has wanted to have the player under his command at all times despite the fact he may not feature in competitive action this season due to the fact Atlético have already reached their quota of non-EU players.
Atlético must now decide whether to let the Argentinian go or to continue developing him within their group, something that Cholo values a lot, despite the fact he is unable to feature regularly at first-team level.
Other clubs including San Lorenzo, his old team, and River Plate have also asked about him. However, the youngster would prefer to go to Rosario Central, the club he has supported since a young age due to the influence of his father.
