Valencia without Diego Alves and Piatti for Cup clash
The goalkeeper suffered a sprained knee during Saturday’s game against Real Madrid; Piatti meanwhile, faces a month on the sidelines.
Valencia goalkeeper Diego Alves is set to sit out Tuesday’s Copa del Rey Round of 16 first leg against Espanyol after suffering a sprained knee in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid. The keeper sustained the sprain while contesting a high ball with Gareth Bale and doctors confirmed the injury after conducting tests this morning. Medical staff are confident however, that Alves will be able to return for Saturday’s league game against Celta at Balaídos.
Not so fortunate is Pablo Piatti who has suffered an injury to his left thigh muscle and faces a while on the sidelines – between four to six weeks.
