SPAIN | MACEDONIA
Spain 5 Macedonia 1 (Full-time)
Goals from Ramos, Alcácer, Busquets, Silva and Pedro see La Roja dominate in Valencia. Munir get his debut as part of Del Bosque’s revolution.
Spain secured a morale boosting win this evening in Valencia with a convincing 5-1 over a Macedonia side who offered little by way of resistance.
Sergio Ramos opened the scoring with a calmly taken “Panenka” style penalty and goals from Paco Alcácer and Sergio Busquets saw Del Bosque’s men firmly in control. Macedonia replied before the half-hour mark when Ibraimi scored from the penalty spot following an awkward challenge from Juanfran. This was to be the only scare on a night that saw Casillas regain some badly needed confidence with some inspired reflex saves. 19 year old El Hadi Munir made his much speculated debut and in the final stages of the game Pedro sealed an impressive night for La Roja with an inspired chip to seal a comfortable but badly needed win for Del Bosque’s men.
