Real Madrid announce the arrival of K.C. Rivers
The 27-year-old shooting guard has joined on a one-season deal and will wear the number 4 jersey.
Real Madrid confirmed the signing of Kelvin Creswell ‘K.C.’ Rivers today. The North American shooting guard’s stay will last until the end of the 2014/15 season and follows Andrés Nocioni, and Jonas Maciulis as the latest arrivals at the capital club while the signing of Argentine point guard Facundo Campazzo is expected to be announced shortly.
The 27-year-old signed his one-year contract in the Directors’ board room at the Santiago Bernabéu and was accompanied by Director of the Basketball section Juan Carlos Sánchez, Technical Director Alberto Herreros and Advisor to the President, Emiliano Rodríguez. Rivers later posed for photographs next to the trophy cabinet, holding his new number 4 jersey.
A team player, accomplished shooter who makes few mistakes out on court and is solid in defence, Rivers spent last season in the NBA D-League with Reno Bighorns but has ample experience of the European game having played in Italy with Benetton Treviso and Virtus Bologna, in France with Chorale Roanne and more recently in Russia with Lokomotiv Kuban and Khimki). He starred in 2012/13 Euroleague with Khimki and averages 9.6 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
In his first interview with the club’s television channel, Rivers said, “My personal objective is just to keep improving as a player, to be a part of this great club and help the team to continue being successful. I want to win trophies. All of my team mates have won silverware and I haven’t had the chance to do that yet in Europe. I’m here to give 100 per cent and to win”.
