"Winning La Décima has taken away pressure and anxiety"
The Real Madrid captain talked about the significance of winning the long-awaited tenth Champions League at a publicity event.
Real Madrid captain and goalkeeper Iker Casillas admitted that winning ‘La Décima’ had "taken away the pressure of not being European Champions since 2002”.
In an interview with Adidas, Casillas went on to say that after beating city neighbours Atlético Madrid in Lisbon he hopes that after “being freed from that anxiety there will be many more to come.”
During a video recorded by the aforementioned sports brand, Bale, Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso were also surprised to hear the commentary of the four goals that brought them victory in the Estádio da Luz.
"La Décima topped off a great season, every kid dreams of playing for Real Madrid and winning the Champions League", the Welshman said.
Xabi Alonso, meanwhile, stressed how much Los Blancos had to suffer to lift the long-awaited trophy. “I expected us to suffer, but not that much,” the midfielder said.
Alvaro Arbeloa, meanwhile, added: “There’s no better way to win a European Cup than the way we did it.”
