CHAMPIONS LEAGUE | BAYERN
Bayern “not in best moment” laments Guardiola
“We played like a small team and that’s the best compliment anyone can pay us; we need to improve our performance levels to reach the final”.
“The Real Madrid game has come at a bad time for us, we’re not in our best moment,” said Pep Guardiola after Bayern Munich’s 2-0 win at Eintract Brauschweig – a match they only resolved in the dying minutes.
“It wasn’t easy for us to go into this game after securing the Bundesliga title four games ago. We had to battle to beat an Eintract side who showed courage and passion,” he continued. “It wasn’t easy. We controlled the game in the second half and went on to win. I’m happy with the result but we will need to up our performance levels against Real Madrid. If we are to make the Champions League final, we need to improve.
“We played like a small team and in terms of competing, that’s the best compliment anyone can pay us. We fought today and maybe we’d lost some of that ambition recently”.
Lukas Raeder guarded the Bayern net on Saturday but doesn’t think he’ll be in Guardiola’s starting XI on Wednesday. “Of course I’m ready to play at the Bernabéu but I think Manu [Neuer] will be fit by Wednesday”.
