COPA DEL REY | ATHLETIC BILBAO 1-2 ATLÉTICO MADRID
Raúl García: "We turned the game around in the second half"
"At half-time we spoke about being a team of men, and agreed we had to stand up and be counted, like we always do when things are going badly, and that's what we did."
Raúl García spoke to Canal Plus immediately after helping Atlético Madrid book their place in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, in which they will face Real Madrid.
With Athletic 1-0 at half-time and the score level on aggregate, Garcia scored the goal which turned the tie on its head, requiring the hosts to win 3-1. Athletic were unable to respond, and in the final few minutes, Diego Costa put Los Rojiblancos ahead on the night, sealing their passage to the final four.
García said: "At half-time we spoke about being a team of men, and agreed we had to stand up and be counted, like we always do when things are going badly, and that's what we did. We turned the game around.
"We played well In the first half an hour of the game and even had a couple of chances, but the game changed when they scored. Am I happy with my goal? It's the same as always. The important thing is I was able to help the team when we needed it."
Courtois: “There is still a long way to go before the end of the season. We know he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world right now but we'll only see how good he is when the season is over."
Semi-final with Madrid: "Every game we play against Real Madrid is always special, but our main concern is doing well in the tie and getting to the final. We've had a difficult January but we have responded well. Madrid have recovered their injured players but we're not worried about that."
