Franck Ribéry has insisted that his achievements in 2013 mean that he deserves to scoop the Ballon d’Or at Monday evening’s FIFA gala.
Speaking to RTL ahead of the event in Zurich, the Bayern Munich man said: “It’s been my best year, it’s been my year. If I don’t win the Ballon d’Or, then I don't see the logic."
“It’s something I dream about, but at the same time I’ve done everything I could on the pitch. Off the pitch, too. I’ve given my all. I don’t know what else you have to do to win the Ballon d’Or. I know that I’m up against two great players, but this year I’ve won everything.”
He added: “It wouldn’t be the end of the world if I didn’t win, but it would be a big disappointment. Life goes on. I can only keep on working, enjoying myself and winning things with Bayern and with France. I’d prefer to win the World Cup with France than the Ballon d’Or.”
