REAL MADRID | XABI ALONSO
"Khedira's injury came as a shock to us"
Asked about his team-mate’s injury, he added: “He’s stubborn and he’ll be back sooner than expected.”
Xabi Alonso spoke at an Adidas event to launch a new range of boots. The Spain international admitted that the injury to one of his fellow Madrid midfielders had hit the dressing room hard: “Khedira’s injury came as a shock to us. We were waiting to hear what had happened for a few hours because we weren’t sure how serious the injury was. After that the worst was confirmed, but he’s very German and very stubborn and I’m sure he’ll be back sooner than expected.”
Asked about Ancelotti’s potential tactical change, he said: “4-3-3 was a new idea we had to adapt to, but it doesn’t matter if it’s that system, 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2. The most important thing is that we’ve got players that know how to adapt to any formation.”
