Barça set to give next year's pre-season tour a miss
‘Los Azulgranas’ are likely to follow Tito Vilanova’s example from two seasons ago. Given that it’s a World Cup season, there is a preference for less travel time and friendlies played in Europe to avoid injuries.
The build-up of injuries currently plaguing Barcelona could be behind the club’s decision not to embark on a pre-season tour next summer. According to Catalunya Radio, the technical staff have decided not to put any strain on a squad brimming with internationals given that it’s a World Cup season. The plan is to follow preparations made two seasons ago, under Tito Vilanova, when Barcelona only travelled around Europe (Hamburg, Paris...).
Barcelona will copy the same model for next season’s preparations. In fact, most matches will be organised at a time that will allow them to make the round trip in one day.
