LIGA BBVA | BARCELONA- REAL MADRID
Tata Martino: "I'd decided on the team before the trip to Milan"
The Barcelona coach called for better finishing in the ‘Clásico’ as he referred to the 0-0 draw against Osasuna. “I hope we’re sharper in front of goal.”
“I’d decided on Saturday’s team before the trip to Milan,” Tata Martino said in a press conference held ahead of Saturday’s clash against Real Madrid (18.00 hours CET).
How do you feel going into the game? “We’re good. We didn’t beat Osasuna or Milan, but we’re not going backwards. We played the way we always do and we had chances to win. I hope we’re sharper in front of goal.”
Xavi, Iniesta and Cesc: “All three could start or one could be left out. I’d decided on the team for Saturday before the trip to Milan.”
Things to avoid: “Losing the ball in the build-up play. Our rivals are very good on the break and could catch us out.”
Milan: "We paid for our performance in the first ten minutes.”
Result or performance: “It’s hard to say that I’m more interested in the result. If we have the chance to win then it will be playing well. There’s practically no other way we can play.”
Bale: “Ancelotti said he could play, not that he was going to. He’s an excellent player that can throw you off balance.”
Puyol and Cesc: “I’m not sure why you’ve reached that conclusion. I knew who was going to play in Milan and against Madrid. I’m not going to play guessing games.”
The fans: “I never really like asking people for anything because they are used to welcoming sides and their behaviour depends on the club. I know it’s better to play at home than away, and at home we’ve done well.”
Improvements: “In Pamplona we lacked speed in the final third and our play was duller than usual. In both games it was our decision making, which I never thought would be a problem for us.”
