Andrés Iniesta's father, José Antonio, has emphasised that his son intends on signing a new contract with Barcelona and finishing his career with the club.
The midfielder's current deal expires in 2015 and Manchester United and Manchester City are said to be monitoring his situation.
Speaking on the radio programme 'La Xarxa', José Antonio said: "Anyone who knows Andrés, who has spent 18 years at Barcelona, shouldn't doubt his words."
He added: "Andrés is still vital to Barcelona's style of play."
He also explained that Iniesta was not involved in the contract negotiations, but that his agent, Ramón Sostres, was in charge of the deal.
"Therefore anything I say about the news that has come out would be inaccurate," said Juan Antonio.
