Gareth Bale is a Real Madrid player. The club announced the player's move from Tottenham on their website at 8pm today ending a long drawn out summer of speculation over the deal.
After a transfer saga that has lasted the whole summer, Madrid have managed to convince Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to part with his star player, who finally rebelled by failing to show up for the team’s training sessions.
at the end the transfer was delayed, with Levy angered by Bale’s presence in Marbella and a computing error that led to the 24-year-old’s number 11 shirt being made available on Madrid’s official website. However, with Spurs having invested the money expected from Bale’s move, an agreement over the deal remained inevitable.
The Spanish club announced the news on their web page and through Twitter at 8pm local time on Sunday night shortly after Tottenham Hotspur coach André Villas-Boas had admitted that 24-year-old Bale would be “moving on” in his post-match press conference following Spur’s league defeat to Arsenal
"He is a fantastic player and we wish him all the best. He leaves us memories which every Tottenham fan will cherish," the Portuguese manager said.
Bale will be formally unveiled at 13:00 hours local time in the President box at the Santiago Bernabéu.
