Real Madrid have confirmed the sale of Raúl Albiol to Napoli, issuing a brief statement on their official website. Napoli have also announced the deal for the 27-year-old, who has signed a four-year deal at the Stadio San Paolo.
Albiol becomes the second Madrid player to make a summer switch to Napoli, following the transfer of midfielder José Callejón to the Serie A outfit earlier in July. He is also reunited with new Napoli coach Rafa Benítez, who gave the Spain defender his first-team debut at Valencia at the age of 18.
Real Madrid will receive around 12 million euros from the sale of Albiol, who follows Michael Essien, Ricardo Carvalho and Callejón out of the Santiago Bernabéu.
