After undergoing his second operation on a tumour on the parotid gland at the Vall d'Hebron hospital on Thursday, Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova will spend Christmas at home with his family.
A brief statement was posted on the Catalan club's website, reading: "Given the post-surgery progress, Tito Vilanova has been discharged from hospital on Saturday afternoon. The Barça coach's operation on Thursday went as planned." Soon after the operation, Vilanova left the Intensive Care Unit, and the speed of his recovery means that he is now out of hospital.
At the beginning of January, Tito Vilanova will start six weeks of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and will attempt to make a gradual return to daily business at Barcelona. However, no dates have so far been set for his comeback.
