Ernesto Valverde started his regime as Valencia coach with a training session this morning. He had not travelled to Lille, where the team recorded a 0-1 victory, with Salvador González "Voro" in charge on the bench.
The former coach, Argentinean Mauricio Pellegrino was sacked last Saturday, and on Monday Valverde was presented as Valencia's coach for the rest of the season. Having not travelled Valverde's first contact with the team was today. The first objective on the horizon is their trip to Pamplona, where they will play Osasuna two times in four days: Saturday in the League and Tuesday in the Copa del Rey.
Voro said after the win in Lille that much of the preparation for the game had been discussed with Valverde. The team had many changes from the side that were beaten by Real Sociedad 2-5, in part because suspensions forced several changes to the line up.
Valverde's first session with the team was behind closed doors, with the press invited in for just the first 15 minutes. Soldado and Antonio Barragán are available for the trip to Pamplona for Valencia, having been unable to play in Lille, due to suspension. Jonas Gonçalves, however, who was sent off against Real Sociedad, will not be available. The club are also waiting on news about the condition of Victor Ruiz, who didn't finish the game in Lille, and Vicente Guaita, who finished the game complaining of physical difficulties.
