Valencia brought their tour of Germany to a close tonight by drawing 1-1 with Arminia Bielfeld.
For the first time in the pre-season , coach Mauricio Pellegrino picked a team mostly comprising of first team players, a team that would not look out of place in a competitive game.
Tino Costa and Dani Parejo started the game in the middle of the park, a sign of Pellegrini's intention for his side to be creative and dominate possession when facing weaker opposition. In the second half Fernando Gago came on to make his debut for his new side since completing his signing from Real Madrid last week, playing alongside David Albelda, indicating that Pellegrino sees Gago as a playmaker rather than a holding midfielder.
Valencia dominated for large parts of the game and Soldado and Jonas between them missed four chances to give the visitors the lead. However, the hosts also had their chances, the best of which fell to Kullmann in a one-on-one with Diego Alves, but the goalkeeper won the duel.
The goals arrived in the second half. Burmeister took advantage of a defensive slip to fire past Alves at the far post to give the German side the lead. However, Valencia wasted no time in responding and were level after Feghouli pounced on a loose ball in the area to smash a shot past Stefan Ortega.
After three games in Germany, 'los ché' return to Spain with two draws and one victory. They will play their next match on Saturday, against Porto at the Mestalla in order to raise money for the victims of the wild fires that took place in June in Valencia.
