"Being top scorer at Liverpool meant nothing when..." - Suarez

Luis Suarez spoke before Barcelona's title-deciding visit to Granada's Los Carmenes stadium. A win will allow Barcelona to lift La Liga, but anything less may open the door to a resurgent Real Madrid who are hot on the heels of the holders, lying just one point behind.

"I don't believe that teams are motivated by suitcases full of cash, I believe in the pride of the players", said Suarez, after much talk has been made of bonus payments for Granada players and suitcases at Los Carmenes.

Suarez was also concerned about the state of the pitch down in Granada, "I hope they don't leave the grass too long and dry, they hurt themselves by doing that last year, particularly for the first goal".

Asked about his season, Suarez undelined that winning the league is everything: "I'm glad I've helped the team, but if we don't finish champions I don't care about the pichichi".

"That's what happened at Liverpool, we came close to winning the Premier League, and finishing top scorer meant nothing to me because we didn't win the league. We have to make it happen ourselves, it's in our hands".
