It’s Déjà vu all over again for Gareth Bale as his sixth injury to a problematic calf muscle looks likely to keep him out for between two to three weeks, meaning he may miss matches against Betis, Espanyol and Granada with a return around the time that Real Madrid face Athletic on February 13, or against Roma in the Champions League on Feb 17.

“Sóleo” has become Bale’s most hated word in Spanish, his recurring calf injuries focused in that area of the muscle as published on the club’s official website. Madrid announced today that he will be sent for a scan on Tuesday to find out the seriousness of the injury this time and the likely length of time that he’ll spend sidelined.

Bale was replaced by Jesé, who may now have an opportunity to impress under the watchful eye of new manager Zinedine Zidane.
