Cristiano Ronaldo spent six seasons at Manchester United between 2003 and 2009.

The idea of returning to Old Trafford has been raised for the Portuguese. Sir Alex Ferguson was seen in the VIP box at the Santiago Bernabéu last Tuesday. The former Manchester United manager was sat next to Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes as he watched Madrid’s surprising 4-3 defeat to Schalke. After the match, according to sources from Manchester, Ferguson went to have dinner with Cristiano. According to these sources, United want to re-sign Cristiano at the end of the season and Ferguson came to Madrid to convince the Portuguese star, who respects and appreciates the Scot like a father. Last season, United had prepared €200m to undertake the signing of Cristiano, but in the end Real Madrid renewed his contract. The relationship between Florentino Pérez and the current Ballon d’Or holder remains poor. The relationship between the Madrid president and Cristiano did not improve with that remarkable contract improvement and the president would not hamper his sale if an offer arrived.

After signing Danilo, Madrid will go for Alaba. After closing the signing of Danilo for €30m, Madrid have David Alba as their next objective. The versatile Bayern Munich footballer, who can play as a left-back or as a central midfielder, could anchor himself within Madrid’s ranks. In December 2013, the German side tied the Austria international down to a new deal which lasts untils June 2018. Madrid will try to sign him and they will negotiate with Bayern as they did last season when they moved for Toni Kroos, using Giovanni Branchini as an intermediary.
