According to La Gazzeta, Manchester City have emerged as serious rivals to Real Madrid in the race to sign Radamel Falcao. The Colombian, who missed the World Cup due to a knee ligament injury, is hot property, and City are believed to be ready to go all out for a player known as 'El Tigre'.
The English side, who under UEFA FFP regulations have restricted activity this summer, want to initially loan the striker. They would pay his wages and formalise the deal next summer. This is all believed to be dependent on Jovetic's permanent move to Juventus, or back to Fiorentina.
Despite the English champion's interest in Falcao, the player is believed to prefer Real Madrid, who remain in pole position. On Monday Florentino Pérez and Jorge Mendes were seen lunching at the Bernabéu, and one of the subjects believed to be up for discussion was the possible arrival of Falcao.
