Atlético Madrid coach Diego Simeone has discussed France international Antoine Griezmann, who is set to join the Rojiblancos after a 30-million-euro deal was agreed with Real Sociedad.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s match against MLS side San José Earthquakes, Simeone said: “He’s a very good player. He is very quick and can give us a lot of options in attack.”
However, with Griezmann yet to finalise personal terms with Atlético, ‘El Cholo’ sent a message of caution: “It’s also true that a lot of other players have been talked about as possibly coming [to Atlético], and we could make two teams out of all of them.”
Pre-season: “It has stood us in good stead, above all the new boys. I hope I can have the whole group available as soon as possible, but right now that’s not possible. I’m satisfied with our work over these three weeks.”
Match against San José: “I hope it’s an entertaining game and that lots of people go to the stadium. People have treated us with a lot of affection in the United States. Our plan is to keep on growing in footballing terms, to get to our best level.”
