João Miranda’s time at Atlético de Madrid is coming to an end. The Brazilian is set to join Manchester United this summer and has already been enquiring about local schools in Manchester for his children. At Atlético, the technical team’s idea is to maintain the backbone of the side which clinched the league title and ended as runners-up in the Champions League but they would reluctantly allow players leave if their buy-out fees are met. United will lay out a fee close to 30 million euros for the centre-back.
Once the operation has been closed, Atlético will begin the search for a replacement. Andrea Berta and José Luis Caminero have already earmarked a number of potential substitutes including Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala although any deal would be scuppered if the asking price is too high.
Arda Turan meanwhile has again been linked with FC Barcelona although the Catalans have no need to bring in another creative player – unless Cesc Fàbregas moves on. Barça’s Director of Sport Andoni Zubizarreta has compiled a dossier on the Turkey international, including details on his lifestyle habits off the field of play.
