Cristiano Ronaldo took a step towards starting the Champions League final, taking part in Real Madrid's final training session in the Spanish capital before leaving for Lisbon. Pepe and Benzema carried on with the physios, whilst TV Channel Cuatro say that Ronaldo did 20 minutes training on his own and almost 25 with the rest of the side.
The good news for Carlo Ancelotti with regards to his attacker were offset by the bad news with regards to Pepe and Benzema. The Italian coach is starting to become resigned to the fact he will be without the Portugal centre back, with Raphael Varane poised to take his place, however is more optimistic for Benzema.
In the final training session at Valdebebas, Pepe and Benzema remained indoors under the guise of physios as they bid to be fit for Saturday.
According to EFE sources, Pepe's thigh injury is not progessing well, but Benzema, who will undergo fitness tests the day before the game in Lisbon, looks more of a realistic possiblity.
Ancelotti worked with the outfield players as he prepared final tactical details for the final, whilst the goalkeepers did specific work with Villiam Vecchi. Cristiano Ronaldo started with the team, before moving indoors to do individual work as he gradually increases his workload.
Di Maria, Varane and Gareth Bale all trained normally with the group and are all in a position to start against Atlético.
