“We hope that May 24 will be a magical night for Real Madrid,” said Cristiano Ronaldo at a promotional event organized by Samsung this afternoon.
The season so far: “If we had known at the start of the season that we would be in this position, we would have been very satisfied. We’ve won the Copa del Rey. The league is looking difficult but not impossible and we’re in the Champions League final”.
The Champions League: “It’s a moment which the club has been waiting for for a long time. It’s going to be a great final, an exciting match between two great teams. Finals are always 50:50. We just hope that it’s a fantastic night and we win. We hope that May 24 will be a magical night for Real Madrid”.
Atlético: “They’re a fantastic side and it’s not by chance that they’re top of the table. That says a lot about them. It’s nice that we have an all-Spanish final – it shows how strong the national league is. And let’s not forget that Sevilla are in the Europa League final too”.
Injury problems: “I’m confident that we can win the final and our objective is to have the whole squad fit for when the big day arrives. It’s normal to experience some injuries when the calendar list is packed with some many games to get through”.
Scoring in Lisbon: “I would like to score in the final but I don’t mind if a team mate scores and I don’t - all I want is to win the trophy”.
Champions League goal scoring record: “It’s a great achievement but someone will beat the record one day. I’m happy just to focus on the present; I’ve always liked taking on challenges”.
Brazil 2014: “Brazil is our sister country where they speak Portuguese and I hope to enjoy it out there. [Portugal] must take it one game at a time, nothing is impossible in football. The strongest teams are Spain, Brazil, France, Italy, Argentina... Any team could go on and win it but the two big favourites are Spain and Brazil. I won’t be putting myself under any pressure; I don’t have to prove anything to anyone. I’ve spent many years playing at the highest level”.
