Real Madrid have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo has suffered a muscular injury but the official statement issued by the club at 13:45 CEST did not specify what kind of injury or put an estimate as to how long the player will be sidelined.
The club’s medical update reads: “Medical tests performed on Cristiano Ronaldo have revealed an injury to the player's left biceps femoris muscle. Pending a medical evaluation.”
AS understands that Cristiano could face 15 days on the sidelines if it is confirmed that he has suffered a small tear to his left hamstring. The player did not appear in this morning's training session in Valdebebas while Madrid's official announcement did not appear until almost an hour after the news was published on the AS website.
Initially, it was thought that Cristiano was suffering a patellar tendonitis (Jumper’s knee) but the commotion at Real Madrid’s offices this morning suggests that the problem could be more serious. If so, he is certain to miss Wednesday’s Copa del Rey final against Barcelona. However, he could return in time for the Champions League semi-final first leg.
