Sergio Ramos, Xavi Hernández and Cesc Fàbregas, three of the national side's leaders, didn't take part in the first training session held by Vicente del Bosque in the build up to the friendly with Italy. It is believed all three are carrying slight knocks.
On the other hand Diego Costa did take to the field for the first time with his new international team mates, and the Lagarto-born forward looks set to make his debut for Spain after officially announcing his decision to play for Vicente del Bosque's side, rather than his native Brazil. In the practice game he formed part of the likely starting line-up, which is believed to be: Casillas; Juanfran, Albiol, Javi Martínez, Alba; Busquets, Alonso, Thiago; Pedro, Diego Costa, Iniesta.
The starting XI might be revised, should Ramos and Xavi recover from their respective injuries, although it is possible that del Bosque could choose to rest his star men. What does look certain at the moment is that Costa will play.
