Sami Khedira continues with his strict rehabilitation programme but insists that he still requires time to make a full recovery from the knee injury he suffered whilst on duty with Germany last November.
“I tend not to look too far ahead or think about the future; my daily routine consists of an intensive workout – that’s all that concerns me right now – not speculating when I might return,” said Khedira in declarations to the German Football Federation’s official web page.
Khedira was rushed to hospital after colliding with Andrea Pirol in the friendly meeting with Italy on 15 November. He underwent surgery to repair torn cruciate and collateral ligaments in his right knee. Doctors are still unsure whether he will return in time to take part in this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil but Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti hinted last week that Khedira could return to training within the next 20 days.
