Borussia Dortmund General Director Hans-Joachim Watzke stated today that ‘under no circumstances’ will Mats Hummels be sold to Barcelona during the winter transfer window and confirmed that the club has no intentions of selling the defender, or striker Robert Lewandowski.
“As far as Hummels is concerned, there’s nothing going on. There is absolutely nothing in the rumours,” Watzke said on Friday. “I am not worried in the slightest about the winter transfer window because a player who is out of contract can leave but a player who is under contract cannot. We have made that quite clear in the case of Lewandowski”.
Lewandowski has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich while Hummels is reported to be on Barça’s agenda despite being under contract until 2017. “We have lost players in the past, which has been normal for Dortmund but we are determined to ensure that we won’t lose a key player every season,” Watzke ended.
