The Liga de Fútbol Profesional (LFP) has confirmed that the season’s first meeting between Barcelona and Real Madrid will be played on 26 October at 18:00 CET. The schedule was announced following a meeting between the LFP and television broadcasters.
Victory for Barcelona in their next La Liga match against Osasuna would give the ‘Blaugrana’ the chance to make it 10 league wins out of 10 this term in the 'Clásico' – and overtake the record for the best start to a La Liga season, which was set by their arch rivals in 1968-69.
Real Madrid will have one less day of rest than Barcelona ahead of the encounter at the Camp Nou. ‘Tata’ Martino’s men travel to the San Siro to face AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday 22 October, before Real take on Juventus at the Bernabéu 24 hours later.
The campaign’s opening Barça-Madrid clash will be followed by a midweek round of La Liga fixtures, with Barcelona playing Celta Vigo at Balaídos and Real Madrid hosting Sevilla
